Focus clutch pedal switch issues
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Ford Focus diesel is experiencing issues with a bad clutch pedal switch, leading to problems such as a non-functional gear selection display, inoperative cruise control, and intermittent engine starting failures. The core problem may be related to the clutch pedal switch or its cable and plug connections. A faulty switch can cause the car to misinterpret the clutch's engagement status, affecting starting and cruise control. Checking the switch and wiring is recommended, and a workshop appointment has been scheduled for further inspection and repair.

I haven't checked the switch itself yet, but I will. Is it difficult to reach? And could a faulty switch really cause all these issues?

It's a bit fiddly to reach, yes, down there in the footwell. And yes, a faulty switch can definitely cause those issues. The car probably thinks the clutch isn't engaged, hence the starting problem and cruise control failure. I would suggest you take it to a workshop. It cost me 95€ to get it fixed.

Thanks for the insight! I'll check the switch and the wiring. Seems like that's the culprit. I booked an appointment at the workshop.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Focus. My cruise control packed it in, and sometimes the engine wouldn't crank. Did you check the switch itself? It's a safety mechanism to prevent starting without the clutch engaged. Is the car stalling unexpectedly?
