Focus diesel boost pressure issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Ford Focus diesel is experiencing a loss of power, poor engine response, a whistling sound during acceleration, stalling at idle, and high fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the boost pressure system, possibly involving a faulty boost pressure actuator or pressure sensor. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked by a professional to diagnose and address the problem, as ignoring it could lead to further damage.

Thanks for the reply! I suspected it might be related to that. Where exactly is the boost pressure actuator located, and is there any way to test it without special tools? Also, what did it cost you to repair?

The actuator is usually near the turbocharger, but it's tricky to get to. Testing it properly needs diagnostic equipment. Honestly, given the symptoms, especially the stalling, it's worth getting it checked by a workshop. I'd bet it's the electrical bypass valve. Ignoring it can cause more damage. I paid 250€ for parts and labour.

Appreciate the advice. I'll book it in with a local mechanic. Sounds like you nailed it – actuator fault it is. Thanks for saving me hours of pointless tinkering!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Focus. Reduced power, weird noises... Have you checked the boost pressure actuator? Could be a faulty pressure sensor or the actuator valve itself. Is the hissing sound louder when the engine is under load?
