Focus Diesel Jerking and Stalling

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2018 Ford Focus diesel (43363 km). It's jerking when I accelerate, the check engine light is on, and there's a noticeable power loss. The engine also stalls sometimes at idle and runs rough. Plus, there's a strong exhaust smell. Error memory also has some error stored. Could a defective intake manifold be the issue? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Greetings, fellow Focus owner. While I do not own a 2018 model, your symptoms sound familiar to an intake manifold issue I had. Were there any mentions of manifold pressure irregularities or a vacuum leak in the error codes? Any chance of a gasket leak, perhaps leading to engine misfires?

Yes, after further investigation, it was confirmed to be a leaking intake manifold due to scorching. Considering the stored errors and the correlation with the symptoms you described, I suggest consulting with a trusted workshop. It's better to have it professionally diagnosed. I ended up paying around 1180€ for parts and labor but it resolved the problem completely.
