Focus diesel PTC heater issue
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Focus diesel is experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts, an error code, and increased fuel consumption, suspected to be related to the PTC heater. The issue may involve the auxiliary heater, blower motor, or HVAC system heating element, potentially due to an electrical fault. A similar case confirmed the PTC heater as the cause, suggesting professional repair as the best course of action.

Yes, exactly that! The engine is definitely struggling on cold starts, more so than usual. Was your issue also related to the PTC heater? Did you have any error codes?

Yep, the error codes pointed to the PTC heater. It's likely defective. To be honest, I didn't try fixing it myself. Just went straight to the workshop. Probably best to do the same, could save you some headaches.

Thanks for confirming, appreciate the advice. I suspected as much. I'll take it to the workshop and get it checked. They quoted me around 350€ for the repair, which seems reasonable enough. Hopefully, that'll sort it out.

Hey, I had something similar with my Focus. Heat not working properly, and the fuel consumption was terrible. Is the car struggling more than usual when it's cold?
