Focus Electric Hard Steering Vibration
Summary of the thread
The 2014 Ford Focus Electric is experiencing hard steering and vibration issues, particularly at lower speeds, which may be linked to a faulty steering angle sensor. The problem is suspected to be due to incorrect coding of the sensor, affecting the electronic stability program (ESP) and causing the traction control light to activate intermittently. A suggested solution is to have the steering angle sensor checked and recoded by a professional workshop to resolve the issue.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the traction control light does come on occasionally. So, you think it's definitely the angle sensor? Did replacing yours solve the issue, and did you have to get the new sensor coded to the car?

Sounds like it could very well be the angle sensor. I never got around to fixing mine myself. I took it to a workshop. They told me it was the coding of the sensor that was faulty and they recoded it. Best to get it checked out, because driving with faulty ESP isn't fun, especially if it actually kicks in when it shouldn't!

Appreciate the advice! I'll book it in with a workshop to get the steering angle sensor checked and recoded. Turns out the bill came to around 195€. Hopefully, that sorts it out. Thanks again!

I had something similar happen with my Focus. The vibrating steering wheel and increased effort sound familiar. Did you check if the traction control light is on? Could be related to the angle sensor messing with the electronic stability program (ESP).
