Focus electric steering column problem

Hey, I've got a weird problem with the electric steering column adjustment on my 2009 Ford Focus with a gasoline engine. It won't adjust anymore, and there's a persistent error in the memory. I'm guessing it's a bad cable or plug. Anyone seen this before? It's a pain, especially when my wife drives the car, mileage is 243586 km.

I had a similar issue on my Focus. Check the connections under the steering wheel, that may solve it. I suspect corrosion is the problem.

Thanks! Could you be more specific about which connections to check? Any details about where they are or what they look like would be great. I'm not super technical, but I'll try anything before hitting the mechanic.

Yeah, I had the same symptoms with the error memory, and the steering column wouldn't adjust. The mechanic said the control unit wasn't getting a signal and repaired a defective cable connection. I'd say go to a workshop. It's safer.

Thanks for confirming! I took it to my mechanic, and it was a defective cable connection, just like you said. Cost me 95€ to repair. Appreciate it!
