Focus knock sensor symptoms
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Ford Focus exhibited symptoms such as an illuminated check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and uneven idling. These issues were suspected to be related to a faulty knock sensor, potentially due to a defective cable or plug connection. A faulty connection can disrupt the sensor's signal, leading to inaccurate readings and performance issues like hesitation during acceleration. The problem was resolved by replacing the faulty cable, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Yes, I've noticed some hesitation. So, the bad cable or connector on the knock sensor could be causing all these problems, including the malfunction indicator?

Yes, a faulty connection can definitely cause all those issues. A loose or corroded connection can interrupt the signal from the knock sensor, leading to inaccurate readings and the problems you describe. It's probably best to get it checked at a workshop.

Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation. Took it to the workshop; the cable was indeed faulty. They replaced it. Total cost was 95€. Everything is running smoothly again.

Sounds like it could be the knock sensor. Is the car's performance noticeably poor, like hesitation during acceleration, especially under load? Could also be ignition timing issues as a result of the faulty signal.
