Focus transmission shifting issues
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Ford Focus diesel experienced transmission issues at 118,251 km, including implausible shifting, a transmission warning light, and emergency mode activation. The suspected cause was worn automatic transmission oil, potentially due to undervoltage. After identifying low voltage as the root issue, the problem was resolved with an oil change and system reset, resulting in smooth shifting.

Slipping is more noticeable during upshifts, especially when the engine's cold. Where would I find the transmission fluid dipstick on this model? I've looked, but no luck.

The Focus can be a pain. I had similar symptoms once, turned out to be low voltage. Not always the fluid itself. Check the voltage and then get it to a workshop for diagnosis to prevent major damage.

Voltage was the problem, starving the transmission. Oil change and system reset later, she's shifting smooth. Bill was 240€.

Sounds rough. Is the slipping consistent, or only under certain conditions? Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? Low fluid can cause weirdness with automatic gearboxes.
