Ford BMAX immobilizer issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Ford BMAX with a gasoline engine is experiencing starting issues, with the dashboard displaying a solid security light, indicating a potential immobilizer problem. The issue persists even when using a spare key, suggesting the key is not being recognized correctly. The recommended solution is to have the key reprogrammed at a workshop, which successfully resolves the problem.

The security light just stays on solid, doesn't flash or anything. Does that mean anything to you?

Solid light usually indicates the key isn't being recognized correctly. It's likely the programming of the key has gone wonky. Best bet is to get it hooked up to diagnostics at a workshop. They should be able to reprogram the key for you.

Took it to a local garage, turns out you were spot on. Key needed reprogramming. Cost me 45€, all sorted now!

Sounds like an immobilizer fault. Had something similar happen with my old Vauxhall Astra, different engine though. Does the security light flash a certain pattern, or is it just constantly on?
