Ford Edge BUS System Error
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Ford Edge diesel is experiencing sporadic errors, including driving mode issues, illuminated error lamps, and system failures, primarily in audio/navigation. The error memory suggests a defective cable connection to the BUS system. A similar issue was resolved by addressing a corroded connector in the CAN bus system, and it is recommended to have a workshop inspect the BUS system. A professional diagnostic scan is advised to accurately identify and resolve the problem.

Comes and goes. That's the frustrating part. Any idea what fixed it on your Insignia?

The analogy that comes to mind is a leaky faucet – sometimes it drips, sometimes it doesn't. In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector in the CAN bus system. I strongly advise you have a workshop take a look at the BUS system. Given your error code points to a cable connection, it seems likely to be a similar problem. I wouldn't poke around too much yourself; modern car electrics can be a minefield. A proper diagnostic scan is definitely warranted.

Thanks for the insight. Dropped it off at the workshop. Indeed the cable connection of the control unit was defective (connection to the BUS system). Repair cost: 155€. Appreciate the help!

Hi, my 2017 diesel Edge is starting to do similar silly things...there are days (especially when it's very hot) that it doesn't start, doesn't turn on the screen or unlock the parking brake and when it finally starts it seems like a fair with all the warning lights illuminated. After a couple of starts and stops only the engine warning light remains and after a few days it disappears. Please, would you mind telling me which workshop you took it to? Thanks!

It's possible that your issue is related to a faulty connection or a problem with the vehicle's electrical system, similar to what was experienced by leomueller72. I recommend starting by checking the battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections, as these can cause intermittent electrical issues. If the problem persists, it would be wise to have a professional diagnostic scan performed to pinpoint the exact cause. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

That sounds eerily familiar. I had a similar ghost in the machine with my previous car, a 2014 Opel Insignia. Intermittent electronic gremlins, almost like a loose wire somewhere playing havoc. The symptoms were slightly different, but the random nature of the failures… it’s like trying to catch smoke. Is the error consistent, or does it come and go?
