Ford Edge Defrost Air Distribution Flap Faulty
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Ford Edge diesel with 42,000 km is experiencing a 'defrost air distribution flap faulty' error code and low heat output. The issue is suspected to be due to a dodgy connection, such as a loose plug or frayed cable affecting the HVAC unit. A similar problem in a BMW was resolved by addressing a blend door actuator, but in this case, a workshop confirmed the issue was a defective cable, which was repaired for 95€.

Temperature's not wildly fluctuating, just consistently weak heat. You reckon the BMW issue points to the same defective cable or plug connection? Did you end up needing to replace a whole bunch of stuff, or was it just that blend door actuator?

In my case, it was just the actuator. But with your Ford, considering the error code and weak heat, a defective cable or plug connection for the defrost air distribution flap sounds plausible. I'd still get it checked out by a workshop; better safe than sorry when dealing with temperature regulation and potential windshield fogging in winter.

Appreciate the insight! The workshop confirmed your suspicion, it was indeed a defective cable, and the repair only cost me 95€.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series, though it was the blend door actuator causing the problem. Is the temperature regulation all over the place? Could be a ventilation system issue or even related to the heater core.
