Ford Edge power loss and flickering lights

I'm experiencing a concerning issue with my 2020 Ford Edge, diesel engine. There's a significant reduction in engine power, a warning light is on, and the car is exhibiting poor starting behavior. The lights seem weak and flicker. An error is also stored in the error memory. Could this be a faulty generator?

I had something similar happen with my Edge – though not the same year. Reduced power, weird lights, and a car that didn't want to start. It sounds like you might have a voltage drop somewhere. Have you checked the serpentine belt? If it's loose or worn, it could affect the alternator's ability to charge properly.

I haven't checked the serpentine belt specifically, but the workshop suggested that the generator is defective. Did you have a similar error stored in the error memory? If so, what was the eventual cause and repair?

Yep, that was it exactly! I was convinced it was something more complicated with the car electronics but ultimately it was the alternator. Given your symptoms and the workshop's assessment, it really sounds like the generator is gone. I would get that replaced.

I appreciate your help and confirmation! It seems like the alternator replacement is the most appropriate next step. The repair ended up costing me 960€. Hopefully, this will resolve the problems.
