Ford Edge transfer case slipping

I've had similar problems with my Edge. Does it feel almost like it's struggling to find the right gear sometimes? I had oil leakage that caused similar symptoms and it turned out to be gear wear.

Exactly! Struggling is the right word. Where was the oil leaking from? Was it obvious, or did the workshop find it?

It was pretty obvious once they got it on the lift. The oil was leaking from the transfer case. Because of the bad lubrication, the gears are defective, which is a common problem in our model. I would definitely take it to a workshop and ask for a mechanic to take a look at the transfer case oil.
