Ford Escape No Start
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Ford Escape with a gasoline engine wouldn't start, showing no cranking even with a jump. The initial concern was a potential issue with the ECU. However, the problem was resolved by cleaning and tightening the battery cable connections, which allowed the vehicle to start successfully. This suggests that loose or corroded battery connections were the root cause of the starting issue.

I gave them a quick look, but maybe I wasn't thorough enough. What exactly should I be looking for besides obvious corrosion?

Look for corrosion and check if the terminals are tight. Wiggle them a bit; if they move, that could be the problem. If cleaning and tightening doesn't fix it, get the battery tested. If not that, take it to a workshop.

Thanks! You were spot on! I cleaned and tightened the battery cable connections, and it started right up. Turns out that was the problem. Cost me 155€ in the workshop. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Corsa. The cable connections to the battery were corroded and loose, making it act like the battery was dead. Have you checked those connections on your Escape?
