Ford Explorer Fuel Pump Issue

I'm having issues with my 2009 Ford Explorer with a gasoline engine. It's hard to start, stalls at idle, the check engine light is on, runs rough, and fuel consumption is up. Plus, there's an error code. Could it be a bad fuel pump? It only has 47965 km. Or maybe just a bad cable or plug connection?

I have a Ford Explorer too and had something similar happen. Any weird noises from the fuel tank? That could mean the pump is struggling, especially if it's intermittent. Before replacing the fuel pump, check the fuel filter. A clogged filter can act like a fuel pump issue.

Thanks! I haven't heard any noises from the fuel tank. I haven't checked the fuel filter yet. Where's it located on an Explorer, and is it easy to replace? Could a bad fuel injector cause the same symptoms?

The fuel filter location varies a bit by year and trim, but it's usually along the fuel line, near the tank or underneath. Replacing it is usually easy with basic tools. A bad fuel injector could cause some of those symptoms, but the stalling and starting issues point more to fuel delivery problems. Given the error code and potential fuel pump issue, I'd visit a local workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed a bad fuel pump due to a loose connector. They replaced the pump cable/plug. The repair was 95€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
