Ford F Check Engine Light Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Ford F gasoline engine is experiencing issues with the check engine light on and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a problem with the inlet VANOS, which could be related to a defect in the camshaft solenoid valves. A suggested solution is to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and repaired, as similar symptoms were resolved by addressing the camshaft solenoid valve issue.

Timing chain sounds expensive... How did you figure out the camshaft solenoid valve thing? And what ended up being the fix for you?

I didn't figure it out myself, that's for sure! Took it to a workshop, they ran some diagnostics and pointed me to the camshaft solenoid valve. Given your symptoms, it might be worth getting it checked professionally. I ended up paying around 250€ for the whole thing (parts & labor). Could be VANOS failure, so don't wait.

Thanks! I'll take it to a trusted workshop. Appreciate the insight and heads-up about the VANOS, will mention it. It seems like a defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves was the problem!

Woah, sounds familiar! I drive a Ford F too, though I'm not sure about the year. I had something similar happen, check engine light and the car was guzzling gas like crazy. Could be a defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves or power supply not available, but I'm no mechanic. Is your timing chain okay?
