Ford F Cylinder Pressure Issue

Alright, I'm pulling my hair out. My 2022 Ford F with a diesel is giving me grief. Got about 192627 km on the clock. I'm seeing cylinder pressure fluctuating like crazy. Now it drinks fuel, feels like half the horses are gone, and the check engine light is mocking me. I checked the spark plugs, cleaned the intake manifold, but no dice. Timing belt looks fine to me. Any ideas before I sell a kidney to afford the fix?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Ford F with a diesel engine is experiencing fluctuating cylinder pressure, increased fuel consumption, reduced power, and a check engine light. Initial checks on spark plugs, intake manifold, and timing belt did not resolve the issue. A suggestion was made to inspect the piston rings or crankshaft sensor, with a recommendation to perform a compression test. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a faulty sensor, which was fixed under warranty at no cost.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Woah, sounds rough. I had something similar on my F, though mine wasn't quite THAT bad...Reduced engine power plus check engine light, yeah. Did you check your piston rings? Could be the culprit there, especially with that mileage, or even a crankshaft sensor acting up.

Piston rings, huh? That sounds expensive...How obvious was it when yours went? Any specific tests I can do myself before I start tearing everything apart and inevitably break something?

Well, mine wasn't completely gone-gone. Just enough to cause issues. Honestly, without proper tools, it's tricky to diagnose rings yourself. You could try a compression test, but honestly, with fluctuating cylinder pressure pointing directly to it, it's hard to imagine any other cause. Save yourself the possible frustration and take it to a workshop.

Cheers! You were spot on. Turns out it was a consequential error from a faulty sensor. Workshop got it sorted. Cost me 0€ because it was still in warrenty. Thanks for the help!
