Ford F MAF Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Ford F hybrid with 58,430 km is experiencing higher fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. These issues suggest a potential problem with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. It is recommended to check the air filter first, as a dirty filter can affect the MAF sensor's performance. If the problem persists, using an OBD2 scanner or consulting a mechanic for diagnosis and possible replacement of the MAF sensor is advised.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll check the air filter. How did you pinpoint the MAF sensor as the definite cause? Did you use an OBD2 scanner, or did you take it to a shop for diagnostics?

I initially cleaned the MAF sensor, which helped briefly. However, the problem returned. I then used an OBD2 scanner which showed a MAF sensor error. I recommend taking your F to a trusted mechanic for a proper diagnosis and replacement.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – it was the MAF sensor. The replacement cost me 365€. Runs like new now. Thanks again for your help!

I had similar symptoms with my Ford F. The MAF sensor was the culprit. Check your air filter first; a dirty filter can sometimes cause the MAF sensor to malfunction. What's your air-fuel ratio looking like?
