Ford Falcon Control Unit Error

Yes, I scanned for DTCs and there was indeed a code indicating a communication error with a specific control module. If the issue is a cable or plug connection, where should I begin inspecting the wiring and connectors?

Alright, a specific DTC is helpful but without knowing the exact code, it's still a bit of a guessing game. Since you're dealing with overheating and a coolant issue, start by thoroughly checking the wiring and connectors associated with the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, the thermostat housing, and the cooling fan control module. Inspect for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loose connections. Gently tug on the wires to see if any are broken or detached from the connector pins. However, I must say, even with all of that, I would highly suggest you just take your car to a workshop.

Thank you for the detailed advice. I followed your suggestions, inspected the wiring, and discovered a loose connection at the engine coolant temperature sensor. I took the vehicle to the workshop, they confirmed the issue as a defective cable connection, costing 95€ to repair. Now the car is running smoothly again!

Sounds like a fun one. Overheating and coolant spewing? Definitely points to a potential comms breakdown screwing with the ECU's ability to manage things like cooling fan activation and thermostat behavior. When the ECU throws a fit due to lost communication, it can impact a cascade of other systems. First thing's first, have you scanned for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)? Knowing the specific code(s) will help narrow down which control module is acting up. Don't just clear them, write them down!
