Ford Fiesta Overheating Communication Fault

I scanned it and it’s throwing a communication fault code. You mentioned the CAN bus, what exactly should I be looking for? Could it really be just a software thing?

The CAN bus facilitates communication between various electronic control units (ECUs) in your car. A communication fault means one or more ECUs aren't talking properly. Given the overheating and coolant spill, I'd suspect a faulty sensor or actuator signal. While a software glitch is possible, a defective cable or plug connection is more likely. If you have the tools and know-how, check the wiring harness and connectors. Otherwise, best take it to a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the workshop, and it turned out you were spot on. A faulty plug connection on the control unit was the culprit. Cost me 95€ to fix. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Fiesta. Overheating and the check engine light usually points to something serious. Have you scanned for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) using a car diagnostic tool? A communication fault could indicate a problem with the CAN bus system, potentially a faulty module or even just a software glitch. Start with a scan and see what codes pop up.
