Ford FiveHundred parking assist malfunction
Summary of the thread
The parking aid system on a 2005 Ford FiveHundred is malfunctioning, showing an error code without any visible damage to the rear bumper. The system is completely silent when in reverse, suggesting potential issues with the control module or more likely, a bad cable or plug connection. It is recommended to have the vehicle checked at a shop to diagnose and resolve the issue.

It's completely silent; nothing at all. And no, there haven't been any repairs or bumps to the rear bumper lately. Could a bad control module be the problem, given these symptoms?

A defective control module could be the problem. But with that error code and the sensors not doing anything, a bad cable or plug connection is more likely. You should get it checked at a shop to be sure. The repair should be around 95€.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take it to a shop and ask them to check the cable and plug connections, and the control module too. Good to know the repair cost is about 95€.

I see. Does the system make any sounds at all, or is it totally silent when you put it in reverse? Has anything been done near the rear bumper recently, or has it been bumped, which might have messed up the sensors?
