Ford FiveHundred Turbo Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford FiveHundred is experiencing issues such as the check engine light being on, jerking during acceleration, a whistling and hissing sound, stalling when idling, reduced fuel economy, and decreased power. The suspected cause is a faulty turbo boost pressure sensor or a bad cable connection. The solution involves taking the car to a mechanic, who confirmed the faulty sensor and bad cable connection, with a repair cost of approximately 95€.

The hissing is loudest when accelerating, especially when the turbo is working. Anything I should check myself before taking it to a mechanic?

Sounds even more like the sensor then. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much myself if you're not super confident. On my Corsa, it got worse real quick, and I ended up paying more in the long run. Might be best to bite the bullet and get it checked out at a workshop.

That sounds rough. I had a similar thing happen with my old Opel Corsa, though it wasn't exactly the same. Check engine light, weird noises, power loss…turned out to be some kind of sensor issue messing with the turbo. Is the hissing constant, or only when the turbo is supposed to be kicking in?
