Ford Flex brake light failure

I'm encountering an electrical issue with my 2016 Ford Flex, gasoline engine, at 61034 km. The main problem is a faulty brake light, with an error stored, complete failure, and an error message in the infotainment system. I suspect a bad brake light switch. Has anyone else experienced similar problems, and what were your findings?

Interesting problem. I recall something similar with my old 2012 BMW 3 Series. Same error messages, along with the brake lights failing intermittently. Initially, I suspected a wiring harness issue, but it turned out to be a faulty brake light switch as well. The car's computer system can be quite sensitive to voltage irregularities from that switch. Did you recently perform any work on your braking system?

Thanks for the insight. I haven't touched the braking system recently. The only thing I did was swap out the air filter. Could that be related?

I can confirm that it is indeed the brake light switch. Since you haven't altered the braking system, it's unlikely a user-induced error. It appears you will need to go to a workshop. I hope that helps.

Appreciate the confirmation. I had the brake light switch replaced, which fixed the error messages and brake light failure. Interestingly, the service center mentioned that the previous switch may have been knocked loose during recent interior detailing. So it seems I caused the issue myself without noticing. Repair cost: 0€, as it was a simple fix.
