Ford Flex knock sensor connection

Alright, Flex fanatics, lend me your ears! My 2012 Ford Flex, gasoline engine, is throwing a hissy fit. Check engine light's on, fuel consumption's gone bonkers, and it idles like it's got a serious case of the hiccups at 236009 km. I'm betting it's the knock sensor, symptoms scream that, but I've also found that the cable and plug connections of the component could also be defective... Anyone seen this before? Am I on the right track or chasing shadows?

Hmm, knock sensor issues can be tricky. You're right, the symptoms line up, but have you actually tested the sensor itself? Or just visually inspected the wiring? Could be something else triggering those symptoms too, you know. Is the engine pinging or knocking audibly?

Good point. I haven't actually put a multimeter on the sensor itself yet – mostly focused on the connections 'cause they looked a little dodgy. What kind of readings should I be looking for, generally speaking, to confirm a dead sensor? Or is it even worth digging that deep before just swapping it?

Without the proper diagnostic tools, getting precise readings can be tough. Given you've already got suspicions about the wiring and the symptoms are persistent, and if you lack the tools, I'd say bite the bullet and get it checked by a pro. Could save you some headaches in the long run.

Yep, you were right. Bit the bullet, took it to the shop. Turns out it WAS the knock sensor connection. 95€ later, all fixed. Thanks for the reality check!
