Ford Flex Oil Pressure Warning

Alright, I'm about to lose my mind! My 2010 Ford Flex with a gasoline engine is acting up. I'm getting that dreaded oil pressure warning lamp, accompanied by some seriously unhappy, loud mechanical noises. It's got 147094 km on the clock. I'm suspecting a defect in the oil pump itself. Anyone else wrestled with this before? I already checked for obvious oil leakage and the oil viscosity seems alright. I even thought it might be the oil pressure sensor, but the noises...oh, the noises! I'm using the right engine oil too. Is the oil pressure gauge lying to me?

Whoa, sounds rough! I had a similar scare with my Flex. Those symptoms, the light and the racket, yeah, that's not a good sign. In my case, it turned out to be... well, I don't want to jump the gun, but could be the oil pump. Did you check the oil level? I know it sounds obvious, but a sudden drop can starve the pump and trigger all sorts of mayhem.

I did check the oil level, it's spot on. So, you're thinking oil pump too, huh? Was the sound similar? Like a metallic grinding? And how did you confirm it? I'm hesitant to tear into the engine without a solid diagnosis. I thought maybe the oil pump, but I was hoping for something less catastrophic, like maybe a bad sensor fooling the system.

Yep, that metallic grinding is exactly the symphony of doom I was hearing! Honestly, I bit the bullet and took it straight to my trusty workshop. They confirmed it was the oil pump pretty quickly. Sometimes, it’s better to throw in the towel and let the professionals handle it before you cause any more damage. The repair cost me around 755€, but at least it saved the engine from total destruction!

Thanks a million for the info! Sounds like I'm headed to the shop then. Better safe than sorry, especially with those noises. It was indeed the oil pump. At least now I know what I'm dealing with, and your experience gave me the push I needed to get it sorted. Fingers crossed they can get it done without too much fuss! Appreciate the help!
