Ford Focus Engine Stalling

Hi, I've got a 2020 Ford Focus with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on, and the engine sometimes stalls when idling. Also feels like I have reduced engine power. The car has 82617 km. I've read it might be the fuel volume regulator. Could a defective high-pressure pump cause this? Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Ford Focus owner experienced engine stalling, reduced power, and a check engine light, suspecting the fuel volume regulator as the issue. The problem was confirmed to be related to a defective high-pressure fuel pump, which was causing the symptoms. The owner decided to have the necessary repairs done to resolve the issue.

I had similar issues with my Opel Astra a while back. Check engine light, stalling... thought it was bad fuel at first. Is your fuel efficiency also worse than usual?

Yeah, fuel efficiency is definitely down. How did you figure out the problem on your Astra?

In my case, the workshop confirmed that the high-pressure fuel pump was the root cause. I suggest getting yours checked out; could be a similar situation. The estimated repair cost was 1510€

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were right. It was the fuel volume regulator, likely caused by a defective high-pressure fuel pump. Getting it fixed now.
