Ford Fusion Throttle Valve Issue
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2011 Ford Fusion diesel was initially suspected to be a bad throttle valve, indicated by higher fuel consumption and poor starting. While there was consideration of the throttle position sensor or throttle body needing cleaning, the actual cause was identified as a defective accelerator pedal module. The problem was resolved with a repair costing 205€.

It wasn't hesitating. Mostly, it's increased fuel usage and hard starts. Could a bad throttle position sensor cause that? Should I replace the sensor, or just clean the throttle body?

Hmm, no hesitation. I'm no mechanic, but that sounds like something else. Maybe best to get it checked at a workshop. Mine turned out to be a simple fix, so hopefully yours is too!

Thanks for the input. It was the throttle valve. The repair cost 205€. Turns out a defective accelerator pedal module was the cause.

Throttle problems, eh? I had something similar with my Fusion. Was it hesitating when accelerating, too? I'd check the throttle body first; maybe it just needs a good cleaning.
