Ford G6 check engine light rough idling

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2008 Ford G6, it's got the gasoline engine. I've noticed the check engine light comes on periodically. I've got about 148,458 km on the clock. I'm suspecting it's related to the air valve, possibly a defective hose connection from the pump to the valve itself. Anyone else run into this? Getting some pretty rough idling too.

Greetings. Considering the symptoms and your diagnosis, I would propose examining the manifold pressure readings. Are you observing any unusual fluctuations or deviations from the expected values? Also, have you inspected the air intake system for any potential obstructions or leaks besides the hose connection you mentioned?

Thanks for getting back to me! Regarding the manifold pressure, I haven't specifically monitored the readings. Where exactly should I be taking those readings and what are the 'expected values' you are referring to? Are there any specific tools needed for it? I have checked the air intake but maybe not thoroughly enough.

The expected values are dependent on the engine's current state. A diagnostic scan tool connected to the OBD-II port can provide live data, including manifold pressure, measured in kPa. Furthermore, due to the equipment needed, I would suggest visiting a trusted workshop to check out your air valve issue.

Alright, that makes sense. Appreciate the insight about the manifold pressure and scan tool; sounds like I'm getting out of my depth. Dropped it off at the mechanic, and you were spot on – it was indeed a cracked hose connecting to the air valve. Cost me 175€ to get it sorted. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
