Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't had a chance to check the hoses in detail yet, but I will. As for the error code, I don't have a reader myself. Is there a specific area around the turbo actuator I should be focusing on when I check the hoses? Is it difficult to replace the actuator myself if that turns out to be the problem?

Based on my experience, focus on the hoses closest to the turbo itself; they tend to degrade from the heat. Honestly, while you could try replacing the actuator yourself, it can be a bit fiddly, especially if you're not super familiar with turbo systems. You'll need to access it, disconnect the old one, and correctly install the new one, ensuring proper calibration. If it's indeed the electrical bypass valve of the turbo actuator causing the issue, and you aren't comfortable with the job, I'd strongly advise taking it to a reputable workshop. It's often cheaper in the long run than potentially causing further damage.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to my local mechanic, and you were spot on – it was the electrical bypass valve in the turbo actuator. The repair cost me about 250€ including parts and labor, and the car is running great again. Really appreciate your help!

Sounds very familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms on my G6 a while back. That whistling and hissing – almost certainly a boost leak somewhere in the turbo system. Given the check engine light and reduced power, I'd wager the boost pressure actuator is at fault. Have you checked for any obvious cracks or loose connections in the intake hoses between the turbo and the engine? Also, can you read the error code that triggered the check engine light? That would give us a much better idea of what's going on.
