Ford Galaxy Mixture Preparation Error

Hey, I'm experiencing some serious issues with my 2022 Ford Galaxy Hybrid. It's got about 164,816 km on the clock and I'm getting a 'mixture preparation error' according to the diagnostics. The symptoms are not fun: reduced engine power, the check engine light is on, rough engine running, jerking when accelerating, and the engine even stalls at idle sometimes. I've checked the usual suspects - visually inspected the intake manifold for leaks, cleaned the throttle body, and even had a quick look at the oxygen sensor readings, but nothing obvious jumps out. Anyone else run into this, or have any ideas where to focus my efforts next? Thinking maybe a defective injection valve/injector?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar experience with my Galaxy, although I can't remember the exact year, but also hybrid. Reduced power and stalling are no joke. Did you check the fuel trims? A lean or rich mixture could point to issues beyond the obvious. Definitely sounds like you're on the right track with the injectors. Has the check engine light given you any specific codes related to the injectors? Also, have you monitored the short-term and long-term fuel trims? A persistently high or low reading could indicate a problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did glance at the fuel trims briefly, but maybe I didn't give them enough attention. No specific injector codes, just the generic mixture error. When you had this problem, did the fuel trims fluctuate wildly, or were they consistently out of range? And did swapping the injectors solve it completely, or were there other things involved? Was there a big repair bill?

In my case, the fuel trims were consistently rich, even after cleaning the throttle body. Ultimately, the workshop diagnosed a faulty injector and recommended a new set. I wouldn't mess around too much and go to a professional. They will have a proper diagnostic tool at hand.

Thanks for confirming! I appreciate the insight. Took it into the workshop, and you were spot on - faulty injector. They replaced the set, and that fixed all the described issues. Cost me 515€ including labor and diagnostics. Now it runs like new!
