Indeed, the engine idling has been somewhat erratic, and there is a noticeable delay in throttle response. Were you able to ascertain the specific cause in your BMW, and if so, what was the eventual replacement cost?

Okay, the idling and response delay confirm it, I think. With my BMW, the garage guys said some sensor inside the pedal assembly had gone haywire. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact cost but it was definitely a workshop job, not something I could fix myself. Honestly, I'd get it checked out by a professional. It's probably better to be safe than sorry with something like that. Could be dangerous if it gets worse.

Diagnosis confirmed the accelerator pedal module was indeed defective. The replacement cost was 265€. Your input was valuable in guiding me toward a swift resolution.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms – reduced power, check engine light – on my old BMW 5 series. Turned out to be a similar throttle valve issue messing with the air intake. Was your engine idling rough too? Did you notice any problems with the car's response?
