Ford GT Electronic Parking Brake Issue

I'm having an electronic parking brake malfunction with my 2005 Ford GT, gasoline engine. The handbrake is completely unresponsive, there's an error stored, and the warning light is on. I'm suspecting a defective electric motor within the brake caliper. Has anyone encountered this and might offer guidance before I start spending money?

Heard that. Had similar weirdness on my '14 Volvo V60. Parking brake just quit. Did the usual checks - fuses, wiring, that sort of thing. Nada. Any noises when you try to engage it? Clicking, grinding, anything at all?

There are no unusual noises whatsoever when trying to engage the electronic parking brake. It is as if the system is entirely dormant. Could you elaborate on the specifics of the issue with your Volvo? Perhaps there is an overlap.

Yeah, mine was silent too. Turned out to be the same thing you're suspecting: the motor on the caliper gave up. Symptoms are bang on. If you've got codes and lights it's pointing straight to a failure in the system. I'd bite the bullet and get it checked at a reputable shop.

Thanks for your insight and shared experience. Your confirmation of the likely cause has given me the impetus to seek professional assistance. I took your advice and went to the workshop and I'm looking at 505€ for that repair. Thanks for your time and expertise.
