Ford GT multifunction steering wheel failure
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Ford GT experienced a failure in its multifunction steering wheel, rendering it non-functional and storing an error in the memory. The issue was suspected to be electrical, possibly involving a sensor or wiring problem. After consulting with others, it was suggested that a defective cable connection inside the steering wheel could be the cause. This was confirmed by a local shop, which repaired the faulty connection.

Yeah, I've poked around a bit, but honestly, the steering column area is a bit tight. I don't have the gear to pull codes myself. So, are you thinking a damaged cable inside the steering wheel is a likely culprit?

It's hard to say definitively without proper diagnostics, but a defective cable connection inside the steering wheel is a strong possibility given the symptoms and the age of the car. Given the potential complexity, wouldn't it be wise to visit a workshop?

Okay, thanks for the input. Took it to a local shop. Turns out it WAS a defective cable connection in the steering wheel, just like you thought. Repair cost me 95€. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like a potential electrical fault alright. Have you checked the wiring around the steering column? Could be a loose connector or damaged cable affecting the steering controls. Do you have access to vehicle diagnostics to check the exact error code?
