Ford GT transmission issues

Hey, I'm having some serious issues with my 2006 Ford GT (gasoline engine). It's got about 249k km on it, and the transmission is acting up big time. The paddle shifters are totally unresponsive, and the gearbox is slipping like crazy, making horrible grinding noises when it finally decides to shift. It's like the paddle shifters have a mind of their own – super slow to react. The gearbox keeps throwing itself into emergency mode. I scanned it, and yeah, tons of errors stored. I'm thinking it might be the transmission control unit? Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had similar symptoms on my GT a while back. Slipping, grinding... the whole nine yards. Paddle shifters being wonky too. Pretty sure it ended up being something with the electronic control of the gearbox. What kind of errors are you seeing?

Interesting! So, when you say 'electronic control,' are we talking about the transmission control unit specifically? Was that the culprit for you? And how much did it set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah, it was the TCU. It's a common problem, apparently. Honestly, don't even bother trying to diagnose it yourself beyond checking the error codes. Just take it to a decent workshop that knows these gearboxes. You'll save yourself a headache.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a specialist, and you were spot on. The TCU was toast. New one installed and programmed, cost me about 1000€. Back on the road and shifting smooth as butter now!
