Ford Ikon Crankshaft Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Ford Ikon diesel is experiencing a 'crankshaft to camshaft reference value' error, resulting in reduced engine power and increased fuel consumption. The issue is suspected to be related to the crankshaft sensor. A similar case suggested checking the timing chain or belt and the cam sensor, but ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective crankshaft sensor, which was resolved by replacing it at a workshop.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the timing chain myself, not really sure how. The sensor is original as far as I know, so pretty old. How did you figure out what was wrong with yours?

Well, my symptoms were very similar, but it's hard to be certain without proper diagnostics. In my case, it ended up being the crank sensor, like you suspected. I'd really recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked out properly. Could save you a lot of headache in the long run. But those symptoms do sound a lot like a faulty crank sensor.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a workshop and you were right! They said it was a defective crankshaft sensor, and it cost me 340€ to fix it. Runs like new now!

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Ford (not sure of the year though). Same engine type? Reduced power and the check engine light. Have you checked the timing chain or belt? Could also be the cam sensor acting up. How old is the sensor? I'd start by looking at those first.
