Ford Ikon weak engine performance
Summary of the thread
The 2010 Ford Ikon diesel exhibited weak engine performance, and a diagnostics check indicated an error. The initial suspicion was a defective engine control unit (ECU) or a faulty main relay. After further inspection and professional evaluation, it was confirmed that the main relay was defective, leading to the weak performance issue. The relay was replaced, resolving the problem.

I have not yet visually inspected the relay, but that will be my next step. I haven't noticed a significant change in fuel consumption. If the relay appears fine, what would be your next best guess?

If the relay checks out, it's trickier. Could be a sensor issue feeding bad data to the ECU, or the ECU itself is failing. Honestly, without proper tools, diagnosing ECU problems is tough. I'd advise getting it to a workshop for a deeper dive. They can pinpoint the problem accurately.

I took it to a workshop, and indeed, the main relay was defective, as initially suspected. The repair cost came to around 120€. Thanks for confirming my suspicions and encouraging me to seek professional help.

Sorry to hear about the Ikon. Reduced power and stored errors definitely point towards ECU issues. Have you checked the relay itself? Sometimes they can be visually inspected for corrosion or damage. Has anything else seemed off, like unusual fuel consumption?
