Thanks. Is there an easy way to check the refrigerant level, or do I need special tools? Also, where is the pressure switch located?

To check the refrigerant properly, you really need a gauge set. Without that, you're just guessing. The pressure switch is usually somewhere along the refrigerant lines, often near the condenser or compressor. Honestly, given the symptoms and potential for refrigerant leaks, I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop. They can accurately diagnose the issue and prevent further damage.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out the AC control unit was defective, which affected the compressor. The repair cost 980€. Your suggestion to get professional help was spot on.

Sounds frustrating. My old 2008 Opel Corsa had a similar AC issue. Check the refrigerant level first; a leak could cause the compressor to shut down. Could also be a faulty pressure switch. Just throwing out ideas before you tear into the control unit. Has the system been checked for refrigerant leaks?
