Ford Ka BUS System Error

I'm having a weird issue with my 2019 Ford Ka, gasoline engine, 56846 km on the clock. I'm getting sporadic errors in driving mode, and the error lamps light up intermittently. Sometimes the audio/navigation system just dies, or the control units become unresponsive temporarily. I ran an engine diagnostics and there's an error stored in the error memory, but I'm not sure what to make of it. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Sounds frustrating! Intermittent issues are the worst. When you say 'error stored in the error memory', did the scan tool give you a specific OBD-II code? Knowing that code would really help narrow down the possibilities. Also, have you noticed if these errors happen more often in certain conditions, like when it's hot or cold, or after driving for a long time?

Thanks for the quick response! I'm not sure I remember the exact OBD-II code, but it was something related to a communication error within the BUS system. What exactly is the BUS system anyway, and how could it cause these problems?

Okay, a BUS system error code makes things a bit clearer. The BUS system, in simple terms, is like the central nervous system of your car. It's a network of wires and protocols that allows all the different control units (like the engine management, audio system, etc.) to talk to each other. If there's a bad connection or a fault in the BUS system, it can cause all sorts of weird issues. Given the symptoms and the error code, it sounds like a defective cable connection of the control unit is a likely culprit. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked out professionally. It might just be a loose or corroded connector, but it's best to be sure.

Thanks, I appreciate the detailed explanation! I suspected it might be something along those lines. I'll book it in with a workshop. They confirmed the cable connection to the BUS system was faulty and fixed it for 155€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
