Ford Ka Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Ford Ka with a diesel engine is experiencing engine stalling at idle and a check engine light, potentially due to a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system. The suspected cause is a defective activated charcoal filter. A suggestion is made to have the vehicle diagnosed at a workshop to accurately identify the issue, which is confirmed to be the defective charcoal filter, leading to a repair.

Thanks! Interesting you mention the pressure sensor. Do you recall if the charcoal filter was the culprit in your case as well? And did it also happen around this mileage?

In my case, it turned out to be a faulty purge valve in the fuel tank ventilation system. Since you suspect the charcoal filter, it's probably best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop. They have the right equipment to pinpoint the exact leak. It's better than guessing and replacing parts that might be okay. I wish I had gone earlier instead of throwing parts at it myself!

You were right to advise a workshop visit. It was indeed a defective activated charcoal filter within the fuel tank ventilation system, causing the leak. Total repair cost was 275€.

That sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Corsa – check engine light and occasional stalling. Did you notice any difference in your fuel efficiency or hear any hissing sounds near the fuel tank? Maybe check the fuel tank pressure sensor too?
