Ford Ka gearbox slipping

I also drive a Ka and had similar shifting issues. Has the transmission fluid been checked recently? Mechanical wear can cause those symptoms. My gears started grinding due to low transfer fluid, likely from a slow oil leakage.

When you had gear grinding, did you notice other signs besides the shifting? Was checking the transfer fluid level easy, or did it need special tools?

Besides the shifting, I also heard some whining noises at higher speeds that got worse. Checking the fluid isn't too complex, but you need to know where to look and have the right tools. If you suspect leakage or gear wear, get it checked by a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I visited my local workshop, and they found defective gears in the transfer case. The repair cost 330€. I appreciate the help.
