Ford Ka OBD2 Readiness Error

How exactly do I perform this 'drive cycle'? Is there a specific procedure I need to follow? Where in the OBD2 reader would I find the information regarding if the monitors are 'ready' or not?

The drive cycle is Ford-specific, and even then, it can be finicky. It usually involves a cold start, idling, accelerating, decelerating, and so on. You can find the exact Ford drive cycle procedure online or in a workshop manual, but even then, it doesn't always work on the first try. Most scanners have a section called 'I/M Readiness' or 'Monitor Status'. This will show you the status of each individual monitor. Honestly, for the hassle and potential for it to not work, it might be easier to just take it to a workshop. They have the proper equipment to force the readiness checks and clear the error properly.

After checking the I/M Readiness with my OBD2 reader, it did indeed show a couple of incomplete monitors. Instead of attempting the drive cycle myself, I took your advice and went to a local garage. They reset the system readiness checks without any issues, and the error message is now gone. Cost me nothing! Thanks again for your help.

That's a common issue after using an OBD2 scanner. The system readiness checks are tests the car runs to ensure all emissions systems are working correctly. When you clear the codes with a scanner, you also reset these readiness flags. The car needs to complete a 'drive cycle' to reset them. Did you check if all the monitors are set to 'ready' or if any are still showing as 'incomplete' or 'not supported'?
