Ford Ka power window issue after battery replacement

Hi, I have a 2004 Ford Ka with a gasoline engine and about 38k km. Since replacing the battery, the power windows no longer work, and there's an error stored in the memory. I suspect it's something with the window regulator not being initialized correctly. Anyone had similar issues?

Oh man, that sounds familiar! I had the exact same thing happen after my battery change in my old Peugeot 206. I remember seeing something about needing to 'teach' the car the window positions again. Did you try holding the window switch up for a few seconds after it's fully closed? That used to work on some cars to reset the 'end positions'.

Yeah, I tried holding the switch but it didn't work. Is that what fixed it for you on your Peugeot?

Nah, holding the switch didn't do squat for me either, unfortunately. I fiddled with it for ages, checked the fuses and window switch but nothing seemed to work. In the end, I gave up and bit the bullet and had to go to a workshop to get it sorted out. Turns out that the Body Control Module (BCM) which is the car's computer that controls those functions such as power windows needed to be reset.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'll have to take it to a workshop then. I got a quote for 290€, but at least I know what the problem is now.
