Ford Ka Rough Idle Error Code

My 2004 Ford Ka with a gasoline engine has a rough idle, like it's about to stall. The code reader shows an error. I suspect the engine mount, but could a dodgy cable or plug connection cause this? The error seems to point at that. Anyone had a similar experience?

I had something similar with my Ka. Rough idling and error codes are never fun. It sounds like it could be the engine mount. But definitely check those connections before tearing everything apart. Are you seeing any visible wear or damage to the rubber mount itself? Any excessive engine movement when you rev it slightly?

Thanks for the quick reply! Visual inspection is a good idea. I'll have another look in the daylight tomorrow. Was your issue intermittent, or pretty constant? How did you diagnose it for sure – did you just replace the mount, or did you do some further testing?

Mine was pretty constant once it started. Visual check is key! I finally gave in and went to the workshop. They confirmed it was the engine mount. They also told me that with the error code + visual signs of wear the mount was defective. It cost me 95€ to fix it. Save yourself the headache and get it checked!

Okay, thanks for the help. I think you're right; I'm probably better off just getting a professional diagnosis. I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but it sounds like it could get messy. I'll book it in this week and post what the solution is. Thanks again!
