Battery connections, eh? I hadn't thought of that, I was so focused on fuel and spark. How could the battery cable connections stop it from starting completely?

Well, on my Astra, even though the battery seemed fine and all the lights came on, a slightly loose or corroded connection was enough to stop the engine from getting enough juice to start. Think of it like trying to drink a milkshake through a tiny straw – not enough power can get through. Best bet is to get it checked at a workshop.

You nailed it! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the cable connections to the battery were cruddy. Cleaned them up and she fired right up! Cost me 155€ but so worth it to be back on the road. Thanks for the tip!

Sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra a while back. The engine just wouldn't crank. Have you checked the battery cable connections? Are they clean and tight?
