Ford Maverick Rough Running Engine

My 2003 Ford Maverick diesel with 194425 km has a check engine light, rough running, occasional stalling, and jerking during acceleration. I suspect a defective fuel pressure sensor. Could a faulty cable or plug connection be the problem? What else should I check before replacing the sensor?

Those symptoms sound familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra – also a diesel, though a few years newer. Check engine light, rough idle, the whole shebang. Have you tried visually inspecting the wiring harness and connector for the fuel pressure sensor? It might just be a loose connection or some corrosion.

Intriguing! An Opel Astra, you say? So, you believe that a mere visual inspection could reveal the root cause? Could you elaborate on the specifics of your Astra situation? What exactly did you observe upon inspecting the wiring and connector?

Well, in my case, the connector was slightly loose and had some corrosion on the contacts. Cleaning it up and ensuring a tight fit solved the problem. But if you're not comfortable messing with the electrics, maybe take it to a workshop. Better safe than sorry, right?

Thanks for the insights and the advice regarding the electricals! I took your suggestion and had a professional mechanic inspect the wiring and connections, and as you suspected, that was indeed the problem. A defective plug connection was identified and repaired. The total cost came to 95€. The Maverick is now running smoothly again. I appreciate your help!
