Ford Puma check engine light and power loss

I'm getting seriously frustrated with my 2020 Ford Puma diesel! The check engine light keeps popping up, and the car feels like it's lost a bunch of its pep. Reduced engine power, sluggish response, and I'm filling up the tank way more often. Mileage is at 57904 km. I suspect it might be the manifold pressure sensor. Could a large vacuum leakage cause these symptoms? Anyone else experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Ford Puma diesel is experiencing issues with the check engine light and reduced engine power, leading to increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a faulty manifold pressure sensor, potentially due to a large vacuum leakage. A similar issue was resolved in another vehicle by diagnosing and replacing the sensor. The problem was confirmed and fixed by a workshop, restoring the car's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey! That sounds familiar. I had a similar experience with my old Opel Astra, although it was a petrol engine. Same symptoms, though – check engine light, sluggish performance, the whole shebang. Turned out to be a faulty sensor too. I think it was causing the car to misread the air intake, messing with the fuel mixture. Have you checked for any obvious leaks?

Interesting! So, it was the manifold pressure sensor on your Astra as well? Did you notice any other weird stuff happening? And how difficult was it to diagnose? I've checked around for leaks, but nothing obvious jumps out. Where should I be looking specifically?

Yeah, it was the manifold pressure sensor on my Astra. I couldn't find any leaks either. Honestly, after a bit of poking around myself, I just took it to a workshop. They ran a diagnostic and confirmed it pretty quickly. I'd recommend getting yours checked out properly – could save you a lot of headache!

Thanks a bunch for the info! Sounds like I'm probably barking up the right tree with the sensor. I'll book it in with a workshop and get them to run diagnostics. They confirmed it was the manifold pressure sensor, as suspected. Large vacuum leakage was the root cause. 235€ later and she's running like new!
