Ford Ranger Additional Battery Alarm Issue

Hey, I have a 2022 Ford Ranger with a diesel engine. At around 50971 km, the additional battery alarm system seems to be malfunctioning. I have a persistent error stored, and the alarm system is completely non-functional. I suspect the battery, but what do you think?

That's a bummer. Sounds like the battery signal is playing up, which could explain why your battery alarm goes off and the system itself doesn't work anymore. Did you already do a car battery check?

I was intending to. Can a discharged battery due to standard ageing really cause such a significant system failure in the alarm system? I thought the car would show more general signs of electrical weakness first, not just this peculiar, focused malfunction.

Yes, a weak battery can absolutely mess with sensitive electronics. The system likely sees a voltage drop and throws an error, disabling the alarm to conserve power. Given the error message and the alarm's inactivity, pointing the finger at the battery is a sensible first step. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop anyway. I bet it may end up costing you around 330€ for the repair.

Thank you very much for the information. I think I will drive to the workshop asap and get the battery checked out! You pointing out the root cause of my specific kind of error of my alarm system I will keep in mind while talking to the repairman. A new battery did resolve the issue. Thanks again for your help!
