Ford Ranger fuel pump issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Ford Ranger with a gasoline engine is experiencing issues potentially related to a defective fuel pump, including starting problems, stalling at idle, a rough-running engine, and increased fuel consumption. The check engine light is on, and error codes are stored in the system. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a corroded connector, suggesting a wiring issue rather than a faulty pump. Upon inspection, a defective plug connection in the fuel pump wiring was identified and repaired, resolving the problem.

Interesting. Was it actually the fuel pump itself or something related to it, like a wiring issue perhaps?

You know, it wasn't the pump itself. It turned out to be a corroded connector. So yeah, a wiring issue. Honestly, after that experience, I'd suggest having a workshop take a look. Electrical gremlins are the worst to track down.

Thanks for the advice. I checked the fuel pump wiring and found a defective plug connection, which seems to have been the issue. The car runs like new after the repair. The repair cost was 95€. Really appreciate the help!

That sounds frustrating! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my old Opel Astra. Engine stalling, check engine light...drove me nuts! For me it was also the fuel pump relay.
