Ford Ranger rough running

My 2000 Ford Ranger with a gasoline engine is giving me trouble. Reduced engine power, check engine light, rough running. It's jerking when I accelerate and sometimes stalls at idle. I'm thinking it's something with the mixture preparation, maybe a defective injector? I've checked the spark plugs, and they look fine. Any ideas?

Sounds frustrating. I have a Ranger too, and I had similar issues with the check engine light and rough running. Did you check your oxygen sensor? A bad O2 sensor can cause havoc with the fuel mixture.

Interesting! The oxygen sensor... I hadn't considered that specifically. Where is it located, and is there a simple way to test it without specialized equipment? I don't want to just start throwing parts at it.

I'm no mechanic either. After messing with it for a bit and still having problems, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quick. Could be worth saving yourself the headache and getting a professional opinion.

Okay, I hear you. Probably best not to dive in too deep without knowing exactly what I'm doing. I'll take it to a shop and have them run some diagnostics. It was the fuel injectors, just like I suspected, and the repair cost me 515€.
