Ford Taurus radio silence
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Ford Taurus experienced complete audio system failure, with no sound from the radio, CD, or auxiliary input, and a non-functional screen. Initial thoughts suggested a blown bass speaker, but further investigation ruled out fuse issues. The problem was identified as a defective bass speaker that damaged the head unit, requiring replacement of both components. The solution involved professional repair, resulting in a new head unit and speaker installation.

Good call on the fuses! I did check them, and they all look fine. And yeah, the screen is completely black. So, if it's not the fuses and the whole thing is dead, what are we thinking here? Is it like, brain dead, needing a whole new brain (head unit)?

Okay, completely dead screen AND the fuses are good? Hmm, that's pointing to something deeper. It's like the whole command center is offline. Honestly, it might be time to bite the bullet and get it checked out by a professional. Could be a wiring issue, a faulty head unit, or something else entirely. I would advise you to go to a workshop.

Ugh, I was hoping to avoid that, but you're probably right. Thanks for the reality check! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the bass speaker was defective and fried the head unit! New head unit and speaker installed for the grand total of 280€! Thanks for the help!

Whoa, total radio silence, huh? That's rough! Sounds like more than just a blown speaker, though. Usually, at least something would work if it was just that. Have you checked the fuses? It's the easiest thing to check, like checking if the power is plugged in. Also, does the screen light up at all, or is it completely dead?
